The Institute of Social Sciences (ISS) invites applications for the position of Doctoral student

Date of start: 01.12.2013

Duration of contract: 1 year. This contract is renewable for 2 x two years. The maximum possible duration is thus 5 years.

Desired qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Social Sciences or Demography
• Fluency in French and English
• Good knowledge of quantitative and/or qualitative social science data analysis methods
• Basic knowledge of life course theory and/or demography would be an advantage.

Job description:

• A minimum of 50% of working time will be spent on the preparation of a doctoral thesis in demography or sociology of the life course
• A maximum of 50% of working time will be spent assisting with teaching or research tasks (teaching activities under the supervision of a senior academic, contribution to joint research projects, technical or administrative tasks that pertain the department’s teaching or research activities).
• The doctoral student will be a member of the Swiss National Center for Competence in Research LIVES (www.lives-nccr.ch). S/he will have the opportunity to follow the Modules of the doctoral program associated with this programme.

L’Institut des Sciences Sociales (ISS) de l’Université de Lausanne met au concours un poste d’Assistant·e diplômé·e en Etudes genre (Centre en Etudes Genre – LIEGE)

Entrée en fonction : 01.02.2014 ou à convenir

Durée du contrat   : 1 année. Ce contrat peut être renouvelé 2 x

2 ans. La durée maximale totale est de 5 ans

Profil souhaité :

• Master en sciences sociales, ou titre équivalent
• Maîtrise du français avec de très bonnes connaissances de l’anglais
• Bonnes connaissances de base en théories du genre
• Motivation à réaliser une thèse de doctorat dans ce domaine

Description des tâches :

• 50% du taux d’activité au minimum sera dédié à la réalisation d’une thèse de doctorat en études genre (un intérêt pour les mouvements sociaux et/ou pour l’approche intersectionnelle serait un atout).
• 50% du taux d’activité au maximum sera consacré au soutien des tâches d’enseignement et de recherche (participations aux activités d’enseignement sous la responsabilité d’un·e professeur·e, travaux de recherches non liés à la recherche personnelle et activités ayant un rapport avec la vie de l’unité de rattachement).
